Oklahoma to Branson (via Arkansas Again!!

Friday Nov 10 - Today we drove through 3 states in one day!!
After complaining to the hotel in Oklahoma City for their rotten service and receiving one night's refund, we left around 10am, on a glorious day, the weather was clear, it was absolutely beautiful. We headed for Branson via I-40, where we would cross into Arkansas, then turn north through the Ozarks toward Branson. I made Mark stop at almost every outpost store from Oklahoma City to Arkansas that sold American Indian artifacts (of which I bought tons along the way). We also enjoyed a home cooked breakfast on the Choctaw Indian reservation before leaving OK. (Now Arkie will know why we were so late!)
Mark decided that we should take the scenic route along highway #7 through the Ozarks, because we had plenty of time (or so we thought). I had to take his word for it and we calculated a couple of hours for it..WRONG!! (Surely it wasn’t all the shopping trips and two hour stop for brekkie???) It's a beautiful drive yes..it's just so LONG and winding! It took us through some very colorful towns with equally colorful names like Booger Hollow. Unfortunately we don't have any pics of that drive because it was mostly on video, but it was very pretty all the same!!
We had Arkie and Milo and Ma Strider waiting anxiously in Branson for us for a 7pm show and we arrived at 6:45pm..barely enough time to take a potty break before they whisked us off to the theatre!
We planned to stay in Branson until Sunday and enjoy some shows while we were here. The town was absolutely gorgeous, all lit up for Christmas. It looked like a mini Las Vegas for non-gamblers. We saw The Platters  on the Friday night from front row seats (of which I got a dance with one of them!) then ate at Mickey Gilley's cafe (are you impressed with all this name dropping?)

Saturday Nov 11 – We got to make pigs of ourselves at Uncle Joe's All You Can Eat Ribs cafe for lunch today. Stagman arrived in the afternoon as a great surprise, and came to the Lost In The 50's  show with us. Mark, on the other hand, had finally caught up with a real live football game on TV showing his precious OU Sooners beating Kansas State. Hell and high water wasn't going to tear him away from that motel room and that game, so we had to leave him behind. However, he was kind enough to join us for the Saturday night show, the Legends in Concert  which consisted of awesome look and sound alikes of real stars. A gourmet meal at the Pizza Hut ended a great fun day (with everyone cringing at the Aussie toppings I decided to order on my pizza).
Thanks Arkie, Milo, Ma Strider and Stagman for a fun weekend!!!
