| The road going south heads for Coro on the mainland. It's in a little better condition than the Punto Fijo road but still has the danger of animals darting out in front of you in the dark. This long, lonely, uninhabited road is sometimes quite beautiful at dusk. Miles and miles of rough sea on the left and miles and miles of flat plains on the right with a small mountain range in the distance and of course the imposing Santa Anna. The burros and cows love it out here because it's greener and usually graze undisturbed. There is very little beach along this coast road as it has been pounded for years by waves and is covered with driftwood and litter. It's impossible to even walk along the sand without possibly being injured. |
