We have a hacienda called La Plancha not far from our house and it doubles as a restaurant/boarding house. It is a very old and rustic piece of architecture and wonderfully maintained. It has a totally opened courtyard and you eat on the porch. The lady that owns it runs a restaurant there, but only on weekends and sometimes only to private parties. You MUST let her know you are coming! She doesn't mind you sitting in the kitchen with her while she cooks...it just makes it feel all the more homey and nice.
We had some engineers here that came to visit the site and we asked Maria Elena to cook us up a meal. You never know what you are going to get when you eat there, as she keeps all her owns animals in pens in the back of the house, so eating there is like going to her house for dinner and being a guest..only that we have to pay! |
