The original Platters were formed in 1953, and were signed to Federal Records (Later Mercury Records) by music legend Buck Ram. "Only You" was their first top ten hit single in 1955, followed quickly by their first number one record, "The Great Pretender."
In the ensuing years, the list came to include nearly 40 hits and 16 gold records. The renowned music from the founding days of rock-n-roll is being kept alive today by The World Famous Platters, licensed and authorized to do so by Personality Productions Inc. and Five Platters Inc.
This legendary group appears April through December at the Celebrity Theatre (formerly Roy Clark's Celebrity Theatre) on the famous "76 Strip" in beautiful Branson, Missouri. They present all their standard hits with the same warmth and feeling of the original recordings, dating back to the fabulous fifties. The World Famous Platters have just completed their fourth season in Branson. In October, they were awarded the "Branson's 1999 Vocal Group of the Year" for the second consecutive year, and have become "the show to see" in the "live entertainment capital of the world."

The five piece Doo Wop Band, led my Musical Director/Pianist Tommy France provides a nice, tight music bed for "reliving the romance" with these classic arrangements that have become a true national treasure.
